A historic boxing card is now scheduled for October 15, as Claressa Shields vs. Savannah Marshall headlines an all-women’s boxing card inside the O2 Arena in London. Originally set for September 10, the fight was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8.
The co-main event will see Mikaela Mayer vs. Alycia Baumgardner for the WBO, IBF, The Ring, WBC, and IBO junior-lightweight titles.
At the 2012 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships, Shields lost to Marshall, the only loss of her amateur and pro boxing career. Never one to hold back, Shields is ready to end any debate over who the better fighter is.
Marshall vs Shields: Date and start time
This much-anticipated fight is set to take place on Saturday, October 15 at The O2 Arena in London.
The night’s action will get underway at 5pm with the main event ringwalks expected at 10:30pm.
The ten-round bout will be for Marshall’s WBO middleweight crown and Shields’ WBA, WBC, IBF, WBF and The Ring titles.
Marshall vs Shields: What has been said?
Marshall: “I’ve said I’m going to hurt you and I will. You’re nothing but a bully, that’s what you are.
“Of course, I have respect for Claressa, what she doesn’t like is I have an opinion.
“I watched her last fight and thought it was diabolical and I told her that. That’s what she didn’t like.”
Shields: “I’m going to quieten all the doubters about my knockout power, my skills and all my accomplishments.
“This isn’t the first time being the underdog. I’ve done this numerous times and come out on top. ‘Claressa you may have a big mouth, but you back it up every time’. That’s what I want you to say.
“I don’t know why you think you’re so big and so strong. Keep my belt warm for me.”
