British super lightweight contender Jack Catterall looks to stay active when he takes on former multi-weight world champion Jorge Linares in Liverpool.
His 15-month ring absence came to an end in May when he beat Darragh Foley and now he looks to make it two wins from two in 2023 with the aim of inserting himself into the world title picture.
Linares meanwhile will have similar aims and will also look to keep his 100% winning record in the UK intact with a victory over the Chorley fighter.
Here's everything you need to know ahead of Catterall vs. Linares.
- Date: Saturday, October 23
- Time: 7 p.m. UK / 2 p.m. ET
The event is set to get underway at 7 p.m. UK / 2 p.m. ET, the main event ringwalk times have not been announced at the time of writing. It is set to be held at M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool.
After so long out of the ring, Catterall just wants to fight as much as possible.
He said: "When I was offered this fight weeks ago, I immediately told Sam [Jones, Jack's manager], ‘let’s do it’.
"My objective in boxing isn’t to easily build up a record, but to challenge myself against the best. Linares’ motivation is evident from his training videos, which spurs me on to work even harder.
"We both aim to give the fans an exhilarating fight, but my ultimate goal is to triumph.
"Recognising Linares’ impending Hall of Fame induction, it’s only right to show respect and not discuss future fights now.
"My team and I remain focused solely on defeating Linares and honouring his reputation by training diligently for our October 21st contest."
